FDD+IDE MultiController

$69.00

What is it?

https://rbsc.su/en/completed_projects/#0011_MultiController_FDD_IDE

The FDD-IDE is a combo controller that allows to connect up to 2 floppy drives (PC 1.44Mb or older 720kb) and one Compact Flash

card-based disk drive to any MSX computer. The device has the selection to use either Sunrise or Nextor BIOS to operate the

disk drive. For Sunrise the partitions must be not larger than 32Mb, for Nextor the partitions could be maximum 4Gb in size.

Why did you make it?

I have been making FDD+IDE for two years, and I have only recently succeeded and will soon be officially authorized by RBSC for production and sales. The reason for the failure is actually bad welding. After two years, I have mastered many soldering skills, such as using low temperature tin and good flux.

What makes it special?

This device was created in parallel with the first version of Carnivore to be used with the diskless Yamaha YIS-503IIIR computers. The device has fully-fledged IDE and FDD controllers, allowing you to connect both standard 720 KB floppy drives as well as the modern 1.44 MB floppy drives to MSX. The controller also allows you to use the CF (CompactFlash) card as the removable media for the high-capacity IDE drive.
